The end does not justify the means.
Gandhi said, “The means may be likened to a seed, the end to a tree; and there is just the same inviolable connection between the means and the end as there is between the seed and the tree.”
To have peace we must live peace, every day in every way. We must cultivate a nonviolent relationship with family, neighbors and acquaintances as well as other nations, races and cultures.
Nonviolence is not a tactic of political expediency “to win.” It is rather a total life commitment for justice.
